Group Fight Between Eatery Customers Over White Day

Seoul—On 15 March, Mr. Kim, 27, and 6 other people were booked at Nowon Police Station for starting a group fight (breach of law for committing acts of violence) with other customers at an eatery over a ‘White Day’ present. They were subsequently released.

According to the police, on March 14 at 11.20pm, Mr. Kim and 3 others were having drinks in an eatery located in Sanggye-dong, Nowon-gu. When Mr. Kim then presented his girlfriend, Ms. Han, 24, with a bouquet of flowers and a basket of candy, Mr. Park, 34, and 3 of his friends who were sitting beside them commented, “What luck.” Upon hearing Mr. Park’s words, Mr. Kim started an argument and both parties were suspected of exchanging blows.

Mr. Park and company were also suspected to have hit Mr. Kang and 4 others, Mr. Kim’s colleagues, who got up from another table to break up the fight.

The police said, “Although Mr. Kim and Mr. Park both denied the allegations of violence, all parties were charged without detention based on the circumstances and eyewitnesses’ testimonies.” [Yonhap News]

‘화이트데이가 뭐기에…’ 식당 손님들 패싸움

서울 노원경찰서는 화이트데이 선물에 시비를 건 식당 손님들과 패싸움을 벌인 혐의(폭력행위 등 처벌에 관한 법률 위반)로 김모(27)씨 등 6명을 불구속 입건했다고 15일 밝혔다.

경찰에 따르면 김씨 일행 3명이 14일 오후 11시20분께 노원구 상계동의 한 식당에서 술을 마시다 여자친구 한모(23)씨에게 꽃다발과 사탕 바구니를 줬을 때 옆자리의 박모씨(34) 일행 3명이 ‘재수없다’고 말하는 것을 듣고 말다툼을 벌이다 서로 주먹다짐을 한 혐의를 받고 있다.

박씨 일행은 다른 식탁에 있다가 싸움을 말리러 온 김씨의 직장 동료 강모씨 등 4명을 때린 혐의도 있다.

경찰은 “김씨와 박씨 일행 모두 혐의를 부인했지만 목격자 진술과 정황 등을 토대로 전원 불구속 입건했다”고 말했다. [연합뉴스]
